George Chacon, a current member of the Taos Society of Portrait Artists, is honored to be asked by The Yaxche school to be their featured artist and contribute a piece of art for their Hispanic Scholarship Benefit. The pastel drawing was done last year at the Torreon orchard the day before mothers day. The word Yache means tree of life in Mayan and the image of a woman breastfeeding under newly blossomed apple trees, a perfect match.
The name of the piece is "MothersDay 2007"
The Benefit takes place at the former home of RC Gorman on 115 State Road 522 one mile north of the 64/150/522 intersection: Saturday May 3, 2008, at 4:00
