Drawing group home needed.
If anyone knows of a space that would be suitable for the Thursday drawing group please let me know ASAP. We have been spoiled at Ken's place, he has been a great and generous host. He has let me know that the space will no longer be available and has given me a month to find a new home. This group has been meeting for over 35 years and we can't stop now. Please email me at taosart@gmail.com with any suggestions.

Symmetry, Order, Perfection and Beauty
Seven Paintings at UNM
August 24th to September 13th , 2008
Public Reception: Thursday, September 11th from 4 to 6 pm
August 24th to September 13th , 2008
Public Reception: Thursday, September 11th from 4 to 6 pm
Seven large paintings by Cydney Taylor hang in the UNM-Taos Art Lobby. The paintings are from her first body of work, an eighteen year focus on colour as subject. Each painting represents a different series of work, each using a different visual format to explore ideas about symmetry, order, perfection and beauty. The common function of the formats was to hold colour without visual distractions. Motifs of hue, color saturation and tone are used for visual presence. Taylor’s work embodies timeless painting concerns first seen in the sixties and seventies. The show runs until September 13 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the UNM-Taos Klauer Campus.

AUTUMN LANDSCAPE WITH INSTRUCTOR: MICHELLE CHRISMAN
PLEIN AIR PAINTING IN THE SATURDAY & SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 & 14 ~ ALBUQUERQUE, NM
In this 2 day course, Michelle will teach the basics of outdoor landscape painting, based on the principles of the French Impressionists and what they taught artists about the visual world and how it works: clarifying light source direction, light/dark patterns, defining beautiful shapes & exciting compositions, assigning correct values, color temperature & how it can work for you; how to mix color with a limited palette, visual pathways & focal point, and how to capture the effects of light, atmosphere and mood with the medium of paint. This class will also help the painter who is well-grounded in the academics of Plein Air Painting, but who wants to clarify & bring forth their own voice & bring excitement & drama to their work. All painting mediums and skill levels are welcome. Michelle is a plein air oil painter residing in Taos, NM. She was featured in the June 2008 issue of Southwest Art Magazine in a special article on Plein Air Painting. She also teaches for the Taos Historic Museum Foundation every summer and is represented by 7 galleries throughout New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. TO REGISTER, CALL HARWOOD ART CENTER: 505-242-6367
